Traditional Scandinavian Yule goat for your Yule altar.
The god who is associated with the goat is the god Thor who is the god of thunder, and one of the most powerful gods in the ancient religion known under many names, but in the most common tongue called Asatru (Old Norse: Ásatrú).
Thor has two goats named teeth-barer (Old Norse: Tanngrisnir) and teeth grinder (Old Norse: Tanngnjóstr) who always travel with Thor and pulls his chariot across the sky.
In some traditions in Scandinavia, it is customary to offer food or small notes of hope for the coming year to the yule goat.
